3 Simple Ways To Take Care Of Your Car This Spring

Spring is a great time to not only take care of your car, but take care of your house as well. Here are three simple ways you can take care of your car this spring.

#1 Clean Your Headlights

Headlights are often overlooked unless the bulb itself is out. However, you should clean your headlights off at least once a year. Over time, film develops over your headlights which reduces the amount of light that comes through them. This can decrease the amount of visible light that you see at night when you use your headlights; your lights may not be dying, your headlights may just be cloudy.

Purchase some specialty headlight cleaner at your local auto parts store. To use the cleaner, you'll first want to clean your headlights with regular glass cleaner. Then, you'll use the headlight cleaner to polish your headlights. You'll apply it in a circular motion, kind of like if you were waxing your vehicle. You should notice a visible difference when you look at your headlights and when you use them at night after using a specialty headlight cleaner kit.

#2 Get Rid Of Corrosion On Your Battery Terminal

Over time, corrosion can develop on your battery terminals. The presence of corrosion can actually put extra strain on your battery when it is charging. It can also prevent your computer-controlled system in your vehicle from working properly.

To clean away the corrosion, dip a toothbrush in either vinegar or lemon juice, and use it to scrub away the corrosion. Use a towel to wipe away loose corrosive material. If there is any corrosion remaining, clean off the terminals of your battery by sprinkling a little baking soda on them and then pouring a tiny bit of water on them. This should get rid of any remaining corrosion.

#3 Replace Your Cabin Air Filter

Next, it is a good idea to replace your cabin air filter every year. Your cabin air filter can easily get clogged up with dirt and debris if you drive frequently or you live in an area that gets a lot of smog. Changing out your cabin air filter on at least a yearly basis will ensure that the quality of air you breathe inside of your vehicle is clean.

The three tasks outlined above are not things that you need to do all the time; however, doing them at least once a year on your vehicle is a great way to ensure that your vehicle stays in good shape. Contact a company like European Motors for more tips.
